The nature of limited edition work means from time to time an image gets printed that to all extents and purposes looks perfect. However, if it’s not as good as the file it’s printed from or it is surplus to requirements as a result of an order cancellation - there is no rescue.
This can be an unseen paper fleck, a small print error or a blocked inkjet. Fine art print paper is very sensitive and can be easily dimpled by incorrect handling. Sometimes this can flatten out when heat mounted but if not.... Alternatively, an image ordered in expectation of an exhibition display or a client changing their mind. This is what happens to it.
The production studio has to uphold this as rogue images undermine the whole point of a limited edition. Hundreds of pounds wasted has to be part of the process to protect the validity of limited edition issues. My thanks to lightwall.es of Palma, Mallorca who prints my work for Europe.
